Learn to Sew Gorgeous Quilt Cushions!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2015

Over the Easter break I had a great time helping my dear friend Heather sew a set of gorgeous quilt cushions to match the special quilt I made her last year.

In one of our beginner quilting classes last year Heather learned the quilting technique and made her quilt squares into these gorgeous cushions as you can see below:

Quilting Classes Geelong Sewing Cushions

Quilting Classes Geelong Sew Cushions

Quilt Cushion Features:

  1. Heather used the same patchwork technique we teach in our ‘Beginner Quilting Class’ to make cushion fronts
  2. The designs were to fit 40cm square cushions
  3. Iron-on Pellon (iron-on wadding) was used on the wrong side of the cushion panels
  4. Heather ditch stitched around feature panels to add loft
  5. Piping was added for a professional finish to the outer edges
  6. Heather learned how to insert invisible zips at piped lower edge cushion seams
  7. Coordinating fabrics were chosen for the back of the cushions to match the quilt

I think Heather did a fabulous job! Well done Heather!

Farm Theme Quilt

Thursday, May 8th, 2014

I have a very special video to share with you today!

Not too long ago I decided to make a quilt for one of my dearest and oldest friends Heather, or otherwise known as Mrs.P!

Mrs.P had NO IDEA that I was making her a quilt, meanwhile I was busy piecing together the perfect farm theme quilt for her.

Watch my video below where you can see the finished quilt and the look on Mrs.P’s face when she saw it!

I made this design in our popular quilting class that we hold here at Rosewood Cottage.
