I’m a Grandma – Baby Sewing for Poppy!

Watch my short video below where I share with you my wonderful and exciting news!

Well I am absolutely delighted to share with you all that I have recently become a Grandma for the first time!

My son and his wife had a beautiful little girl Poppy!

Grandma & Poppy

The new family!

So before Poppy arrived I was very busy sewing for baby!

Here is Poppy just 1 hour old sleeping on mummy’s shoulder on one of the ‘Burbing Bibs’ I made

Here are just a few of the things I made for my new little granddaughter….

A hand made Teddy Blanket

Children love soft blankets with satin and teddy bears so this Teddy Blanket combines both to cuddle and keep warm! I also designed the Teddy’s head to have a flat face so it can act as a pillow!

My ‘Crazy Cat’ Quilt

A soft colourful fleece ‘Floor Blanket

Muslins

A Hooded Towel for bath time!

This design features a hood to place over baby’s head after having a bath, the towel can then be wraped around them to dry them and keep them warm.

Baby Sleeping Bag

As you can see Baby can be wrapped tightly and the length shortened to prevent baby from slipping down.

Ribbon feature to adjust length as baby grows!

Poppy in her Sleeping Bag!

Special Red Elephant!

One of my sewing students and friend Kath made this very special red elephant for Poppy. It features gorgeous satin ribbons to touch as babies love the feel of soft silky fabrics.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! If you liked any of these projects please leave a comment below I would love to hear from you!

    Hi Maree,

Well, I just had to say that Matthew, Cameron and Poppy are so lucky to have you! You have made so many beautiful and useful things! I have kept all the lovely things that were made for my children so they can use them for their own children if they choose. I just adore things made out of love. They are by far the best gift you can give! Poppy is just beautiful! I look forward to watching this little lady grow through your gorgeous reports in class.

    All my love,
    Alana xx

congratulations she looks beautiful, and what a lucky girl, she will have lots of pretties and a nanna who will teach her to sew without her realisingthat sitting on nan’ lap is sewing school,my ten (5 of each) are all grown up now, but there are two great g’chilren to sewfor.i had a very off period over the last 18 mnths but getting back into sewing again . the guild is a great group to belong toand we do enjoy ourselves , with ugly fabric challenges ,toys ,ufo’s sewing for a charity every year , fabric crawls, twice a year we have a one day retreat to sew and get rid of stash overflow, patterns etc and its amazing what comes back for show and tell,we have 33 members and there is much laughter , encouragement and help . smiles are fat free one size fits all and are like chain letters and can becme viral and travel far and wide. it has been great to get your tips every week , you are a very generous lady. no doubt your little poppy is now doing lots of things and these are what make you not want to go off to work , they are really fascinating, keep the pictures coming .cant go to the convention this year but hope to go next year love to every one peg trembath

Hope to see you soon, I have a pair of pants in the ”cant finish without maree” pile already, and a few other things I should have left there :)

Take care Love from Kate xx

Hi Maree, Congrates on becoming a grandma. It is a wonderful experience as I am a first time Nanma to my son’s daughter. She is 3 now and i am privledges to lok after her every Wednesday. The cameras had a full work out for the first 2 years. Initially I did a lot of sewing for her but due to the mothers family buying many designer label items I have not done a lot since. One day Ella ( the one and only grand daughter ) and I made Dora clothes for her doll. Ella was about 2 at the time. I sat her on my knee to quickly sew up a T and shorts in the Dora colours with a big D vlisofixed on the T and velcro for ease to dress. She is very familiar with my workroom and loves to play with pieces of fabric. I hope your journey with your Poppy is as fullfilling as mine has been so far.
p.s love your web page and info. I find you confirm my messages to my students in sewing etc.

    Regards Julie Underdown
