Beginner Sewing Clinic ~ A Great Success!

Sewing Classes Geelong

My ???New Beginner Sewing Clinic??? held in January from 18th to the 21st was a great success and pictured here are some of my new students! Pictured here from left: Bethany, Judith, Maree, Erin & Fran.

As you can see they all made Kwik Sew Pattern 3152 which was a peasant style top and a skirt with a hip yoke, gathers and an invisible zip!

Some of the students sat at a sewing machine for the very first time in their lives and were amazed at what they could learn and create in just two days.

Some of the skills they have now learnt are:

  • Basic Sewing & Seam Finishing
  • Sewing Machine Technical Skills
  • Button Holes
  • Invisible Zips
  • Introduction to Patterns including how to measure and fit to your size
  • Following pattern instruction sheets, how to place pattern pieces and fabric cutting methods
  • Introduction to fabric selection and fabric types

Congratulations to all the young girls participating in your classes, they all look so happy with their acheivments. It is wonderful seeing so many, enjoying sewing for themselves. I am in my sixties and have enjoyed sewing for myself, daughter and 5 granchildren. Only one g.d.is interested in sewing so far. Keep it up girls, well done Maree.

Thanks Denise!! I had an absolute ball working with my new beginner students. I agree there are certainly some new budding designers in my sewing school to join all the others!! I was thrilled with the standard achieved. Well done again girls.

Looks like a fantatsic day was had by all. But then again, what else would you expect from a Maree Pigdon class. I wouldn’t have expected anything else. And what beautiful outfits were made. I can just see the girls walking down Moorabool St in them. Well done to all and perhaps we’ll see some future fashion designers.
